TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Rio Grande fifth graders had the opportunity to learn and then share their newfound knowledge with younger students during a Career Walk held Wednesday morning.
Normally, representatives from area businesses would come to the school for a traditional career day; however, visitors are not currently allowed under the school’s COVID-19 guidelines. So, instead, the students researched different careers and then gave presentations to their younger schoolmates.
“They got really excited and, as you can see, they put a lot of effort into their projects,” school counselor Hillary Eup said.
Eup noted that the project taught students about different careers, but also allowed them to learn how to present to an audience which is something they will have to do when they get into middle school and high school.
