TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Chances and Services for Youth (CASY) and Rose Hulman came together to provided local children with bikes for the holiday season.
Bikes for Tykes is an annual event to put together bikes for the children.
CASY and Rose Hulman came together on Saturday to put these bikes together.
“We’re out here with Rose Hulman, putting together bikes for Bikes for Tykes program. There’s about 200-225 Rose Hulman students in here that will be putting together these bikes,” Brandon Halleck, Chief Operating Officer for CASY, said.
Halleck also stated that 400 bikes will be put together to give to local children.
Volunteers transformed Rose Hulman’s Facilities Op Center into Santa’s workshop.
Once the bikes are assembled, teachers and parents are welcomed to come pick the bikes up.
“We know that kids in the Wabash Valley, there such a great need. For some of the kids this may be their only Christmas present. So, we really wanted to make sure were actually making Christmas or the holidays season a little bit brighter for kids in the Wabash Valley,” Halleck said.
This was the 21st Bikes for Tykes event in the Wabash Valley.
