TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Students that are interested in the automotive industry put what they’ve learned to the test today in Ivy Tech’s Annual Automotive Contest.
Over 200 high school students competed in Thursday’s event. The competition tests them on a variety of automotive technician skills. Numerous local businesses got involved by donating tools that the students could win as prizes, while seniors had a chance at winning a scholarship.
“The students are very excited. I visit them every year at the high school twice a year and they’re always asking about the contest, how they want to win it each year, so they’re all excited about it,” said John Timberman, Automotive Department Chair at Ivy Tech Community College.
The title sponsors, Toyota of Terre Haute and Thompson’s Honda helped provide the opportunity for students to experience this event.
