ST. MARY-OF-THE-WOODS, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A local author’s book could bring smiles to children around the world.

Mose Nasser is the author of a children’s book called “The Dancing Princess”. It’s a story he came up with one night when his grandchildren asked him to tell them a bedtime story. The story is meant to show children that, if they practice, work hard, and do their best, they can accomplish anything.

The book also serves another purpose.

Nasser said, as he sells books, he wants to give back by sending books to sick and under-privileged children. He was inspired to help children during his experience serving in the Marines.

“When I was a 19-year-old Marine in Africa, I saw terrible starvation there,” Nasser said. “After I wrote the book, I remembered those kids and never forgot them over the last 40 some years, and I really wanted to do something for them, so I was hoping that through this book, instead of maybe just selling a few copies and maybe doing a few book signing, that I could try to make the project a little larger.”

Nasser says you can find his book at the Linden Leaf Gift Shop at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, at Union Hospital’s gift shop, and also on online retailers.

Nasser will also do a book signing during Christmas Fun At The Woods on December 9.
