LINTON, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The city of Linton is cheering on the Linton Miners boy’s basketball team as they prepare to head to state.

The Miners defeated Brownstown Central in the second semi-state game of the day Saturday. Earlier in the day, Linton beat Parke Heritage in the first semi-state matchup.

The trip to Indianapolis this upcoming Saturday will be the Miners’ first state championship game since 2019 and the third in program history.

The city is showing its support and letting the Miners know how proud the community is of the team.

“I just want to wish them luck and the great success that they’re having, and for them to keep going and I’m sure that these young men are going to be an asset to this community and to our country,” Linton Mayor John Wilkes said.

The Miners will face Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian on Saturday at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
