TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — When school starts on Monday, many children will return to the classroom with supplies to help them get started on the right note.
The Fraternal Order of Police 85 handed out packages filled with school supplies Saturday to make sure kids have a successful school year.
They also provided food and drinks for families and a bounce house for children.
Law enforcement at the back to school bash said they are on the clock for their community even when the uniform is off.
“Just because we go to work doesn’t mean that’s the only part of the community we want to take care of,” Jason Parker, secretary treasure for the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 85, said. “We see things everyday. See people who need things everyday and this is a need. Children need school supplies. It’s just important.”
With the help of sponsors, they were able to stuff 250 backpacks with supplies.
