KNOX COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – A travel advisory was issued in Knox County due to significant storm damage in Vincennes and throughout the county.
According to the Knox County Emergency Management Agency, routine travel or activities may be restricted in areas because of the damage, which included structural damage, as well as downed trees and power lines.
The public is advised to stay away from all affected areas.
As of 8:45 a.m., the Knox County Sheriff’s Department was without phone service. Anyone needing to contact the department was urged to call (812) 895-1806 or for emergency calls, dial 9-1-1.
Emergency response personnel, along with city and county departments, are all assessing damages and coordinating cleanup activities. Power and energy crews have been dispatched to restore services.
Any clean up of storm damage still needs to be done with social distancing in mind to prevent the spread of COVID-19. This means anyone working on removing debris or fixing structural damage should remain at least six feet away from others and should be wearing masks, gloves and protective gear, according to the Knox County Joint Information Center.
