VINCENNES, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Good Samaritan Hospital hosted Drug Take Back Day.

Drug take back day, it to collect unused, unwanted, or expired prescription drugs. Good Samaritan hosts this event to prevent prescription drugs of getting into the wrong hands, which is dangerous and can be tragic. The DEA then collects them and disposes them safely.

Pharmacy director Shane Wilson said this event is important for the community.

“It’s important to the community first of all to get unused or expired drugs out of people’s medication cabinets,” Wilson said. “It’s also important to dispose of them properly to keep them out of the water stream and keep them out of our landfills. So, that they don’t pollute the environment.”
