Knox Co. Chamber of Commerce hosts annual Watermelon Festival this weekend

VINCENNES, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Knox County’s most well-attended two-day festival is back in downtown Vincennes at Patrick Henry Square.

The 2021 Watermelon Festival began Friday with a concert, beer garden, and a watermelon eating contest. Starting Saturday morning there will be a 5K run followed by the Miss Watermelon Pageant at 3 pm.

Courtney Welage festival host said she’s excited to bring back popular events.

“We were one of the first festivals in the state of Indiana to move forward with our festival in the menace of a pandemic,” Welage said. “So, we’re really excited to try and get back to some normalcy this year. Bring back some of those events that we haven’t had in a long time. Like our 3 on 3 and our 5k tomorrow. Our kids fun zone hasn’t been here for a few years. So, bringing those back I think and we’ve seen a lot of support from the community this year. So, we’re really excited.”

The festival ends Saturday at 5 pm.
