TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Those in the area looking for a place to buy locally grown organic produce, herbs, body-care products, and more are in luck thanks to Kindred Roots Farm’s new store.

The farm’s owners, Josh and Mindy Mason expressed wanting to bring the option of fresh produce to the people of the community.

“That’s kind of why we opened the store, is to have local organically grown, it’s actually certified naturally grown, produce, for people here in the Wabash Valley,” Josh said. “The heart of it is to have local products, local food, of course, our own produce, and our own items, but we really just wanted to be able to give a small family feelings place for people to come and buy local food,” Mason continued.

The store took about 6 months to build and many products from the farm as well as other local businesses in the community are available.

“Mindy makes a large line of natural body-care products. So for those that want products that don’t have anything synthetic in them, we offer that, and that’s been very popular so far,” Josh explained.

“It’s a lot of fun, it’s a lot of work. I do all the making, labeling, packaging, all of it,” Mindy said.

Josh and Mindy also shared that they had met and become friends with other local business owners through the farmer’s market and are now selling their products alongside their own produce at the farm’s store.

“We also have flower, herb, and vegetable starts available, we have local honey that’s produced by the bees on our farm, we have bread from a local baker, we have products from our friends at Son’s Spice in 12 points and we have Ferm Fresh kombucha on tap. So we’re trying to stay as local as possible with all the products,” Josh said. “We want to see local business thrive here. It’s just been fun to see where they’ve gone alongside, and were just kind of going together,” he added.

People can shop at the farm store located at 3279 E Margaret Ave. in Terre Haute from 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. The Masons also said they will be at the farmer’s market on Saturdays.

In addition to the store, Kindred Roots Farm has also recently partnered with a local grass-fed beef farm and is open to working with other farms and local vendors whose products may fit with the store. The Masons also mentioned being in conversation about a possible tomato festival later this year and encourage people to keep an eye out for that.

“Our heart is just to meet people and have a place for families to come by, see the animals, hang out. So we want to invite people if they’ve never been here to just stop by, see the store, meet our animals, meet our crew, and just see what we’re doing,” Josh said.
