TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The annual Strawberry Festival took place in downtown Terre Haute for the 35th year on Thursday, June 8.

The festival was held from 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. at First Congregational Church at 630 Ohio Street.

When asked what this event meant to her, Gwen Hicks, one of the organizers of the Strawberry Festival noted the importance of community.

“Oh, to me it just really inspires me and brings the community together. Our amazing, amazing volunteers who step up and do the serving line, everyone from the runners, the servers, just everyone. And then everyone who comes out, participates, you see everyone on this day,” Hicks said.

Hicks also said the 10 months it takes the committee members to prepare for the festival is a labor of love.
