TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A man already serving prison time on a gun-related offense is now facing a murder charge stemming from a deadly shooting nearly four years ago in Terre Haute.
Vernon Eversole appeared in Vigo County Court Monday in connection to the October 2017 murder of David Carroll, 34, who was shot to death in his home on North 18th Street.
A judge set an October jury trial in the case. Eversole’s next court appearance will be a pre-trial conference Aug. 4.
A second person, Ashley Johnson, was previously charged with murder in the case; however, in 2018, she pleaded guilty to robbery resulting in bodily injury, and the murder charge was dismissed. She was sentenced to 25 years in prison.
