Judge resets sentencing in Terre Haute murder case

Local News

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Despite an allegation of misconduct from the defense, Dylan Morgan will be sentenced at the end of the month for the murder of Gage Eup.

Morgan was convicted of murder in the 2018 shooting death of 18-year-old Eup. He initially told police Eup accidentally shot himself, but evidence didn’t support that claim. Authorities believed drugs and alcohol played a part in the shooting.

The defense asked the Court to grant a new trial after it was discovered that the jury foreman was Facebook friends with one of the detectives involved in the case.

Without making an official ruling on the defense’s motion, Vigo County Superior Court Judge John T. Roach Monday reset the sentencing hearing to Feb. 24.
