VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — It’s a budgeting year for the Indiana state legislature, and Ivy Tech Officials hope lawmakers will budget for their proposed building project on the Terre Haute campus.
Ivy Tech Terre Haute Chancellor Lea Anne Crooks said the project is two-fold. It would create a new building to house student services and a number of academic programs.
The project would also involve the renovation of a two-story building for health sciences and nursing. The goal would be to create a hospital-like environment for nursing and health students.
“Our faculty do a fantastic job of educating our students and they have the abilities when they leave here to perform extremely well in the workplace,” Crooks said. “But we feel like we owe it to our students to provide them the lab space that they will also see out in the work environment.”
Crooks hopes that Ivy Tech will know by the end of April if funding for the project is included in the state budget.
