TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Saturday will be a good chance to welcome a new member to your family.
WTWO is hosting the annual Clear The Shelters pet adoption event sponsored by Toyota of Terre Haute.
This year’s event has more animal shelters participating than in any past year. Shelters will be offering special adoption discounts to help find their four-legged friends their forever homes. The Terre Haute Humane Society is one of 13 shelters participating.
“Right now we’re running at over capacity,” Executive Director of THHS Charles Brown said. “We probably have about 320 animals in this building today. Most of them are up for adoption so we are very excited to welcome the community in and have a big event as well as get some good animals some good homes.”
By adopting a pet from an animal shelter you’ll actually be helping out many other animals in the community as well.
“The more we can adopt, the more we can help. There is an incredible need in the community. We’re obviously here to try to fill that need the best we can, finding homes. We have lots of animals that are still waiting to come into the shelter so this is a really great opportunity for folks to come in, see the facility, meet our animals and finally find a forever home.”
