TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — In an effort to connect more students to career opportunities across the state, Indiana State University and Ascend Indiana have collaborated to help support students in their future careers.

Through the support of the Ascend Network, an online job matching platform, ISU students will be able to match with Indiana jobs and internships that align with their interests and skill sets and will receive job search support and one-on-one career guidance through the Ascend Network staff.

Since the beginning of the network in 2017, Ascend has paired over 3,000 Hoosiers with training opportunities and jobs all across the state. More than 600 employers are currently benefiting from and using the Ascend Network.

“Indiana State University is deeply committed to preparing graduates to meet the State of Indiana’s workforce needs,” Dr. Nancy Brattain Rogers, Vice President of University Engagement said. “Re-igniting our relationship with Ascend will provide additional opportunities for ISU students to connect with outstanding Indiana employers,” Rogers continued.

The Ascend Network acts as a helpful resource to further support ISU’s efforts in helping students find internships and jobs which match their career goals. The Ascend Network is another tool ISU students can utilize along with other resources to help connect students to opportunities across the country.

“It is critical for Indiana to retain more college students with relevant skills and abilities to meet employer demand for talent,” said Jason Kloth, President and CEO of Ascend Indiana. “Partnering with educational institutions like Indiana State University is essential to equipping students with the necessary tools to get their career started here through an internship or early-in-career job, as well as to helping Indiana employers connect to the talent they need.”

Offered through the Indiana State Career Center at no cost to students, The Ascend Network is a resource designed to support students. Through the Network, students will receive personalized internship and job recommendations that lead to careers across the state.

During the process of searching for jobs, filling out applications, and preparing for interviews, Career Services, will work to provide unique support for each student as well as educational resources in collaborating with Ascend. Students are welcome to stop by the Career Center to learn more about Ascend and other available resources. To learn more about the Ascend Network, visit their website.
