TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The first day of one of the largest educational conferences in the state of Indiana took place today at Indiana State University.
It’s the Power of Reading and Power of Math summits. They are free in-person and online professional development opportunities for kindergarten through third grade teachers, to enhance instruction.
It’s a two-day summit, taking place on Monday and Tuesday. Monday is the reading session with Tuesday’s focus on math.
“Teachers appreciate the idea of being able to take ideas back to their classroom immediately. It’s that immediate application with the ideas that are learned here, but it’s not a matter of just learning new strategies, it’s strategies that work,” John Wolf, Benchmark Education Professional Development Director said.
The total number of participants for day one will be 1,000, with 909 from all 50 states, others representing 33 countries.
