TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — People across the country and the world are celebrating International Women’s Day this Monday. At Indiana State University, the Women’s Resource Center handed out flowers and inspirational phrases to women on campus.

International Women’s Day, observed annually on March 8, is a day to empower women and recognize their many accomplishments in the world.

Lilly Howard, a graduate assistant for ISU’s Women’s Resource Center, said, “Every woman on this earth is valued, no matter their age or profession or demographic. As we celebrate International Women’s Day, it’s important to also be an advocate and review women’s rights and the issues that are happening today.”
