TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Indiana State Police are reminding local motorists of inclement weather safety tips following three separate car wrecks Tuesday on I-70.

The crashes happened Dec. 28 near the Wabash River Bridge in Vigo County during Tuesday’s rain. ISP Sgt. Matt Ames said two of the vehicles hit puddled water on the interstate and spun out of control.

Ames said when driving in the rain, there are a few helpful tips to remember.

“The most important thing people need to remember is slow down,” Ames said. “Make sure you have your seatbelt on, make sure you’re not driving while distracted and make sure you’re not driving with your cruise control on.”

One person was hurt in one of the three wrecks Tuesday, but Ames said their injuries were not life threatening.
