KNOX COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A Terre Haute man has been arrested after police say he stole a truck belonging to a construction company while under the influence.
According to Indiana State Police, the incident occurred at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday when Knox County Dispatch received a report of a stolen vehicle travelling on Old 41.
The vehicle, owned by M & K Construction was reportedly stolen from a gas station in Terre Haute and had made it’s way south along Old 41 into Knox County. An ISP Trooper caught up to the vehicle and made a traffic stop near Oaktown.
Police said the driver, Markus D. Arthur, 44, displayed signs of impairment, and failed field sobriety tests. Further investigation would reveal Arthur to be under the influence of methamphetamine, amphetamines, cannabinoids, and having a BAC of .04%.
Arthur was then arrested and taken to the Knox County Jail on the following preliminary charges;
- Operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a prior conviction
- A level 6 felony
- Theft of a vehicle
- A level 6 felony
- Driving while suspended
- A class A misdemeanor
