TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – An inmate at the Federal Correctional Complex in Terre Haute was charged with first degree murder on Tuesday following an indictment by a federal grand jury.

The decision stems from an incident on Jan. 12, 2019 when Lawrence Taylor, 41, an inmate at the prison, was accused of killing another individual by stabbing him multiple times in the neck, face, chest and elsewhere with a metal weapon.

A press release goes on to say that if convicted, Taylor faces a maximum penalty of life imprisonment.

Taylor will make his initial court appearance in the Southern District of Indiana before a U.S. Magistrate Judge at a later date.

The FBI is currently investigating the case.
