PUTNAM COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)– A 19-year-old Indianapolis man was arrested after firing a shot near a state trooper Saturday.

According to a release from Indiana State Police, an off-duty trooper saw a silver car stop near the intersection of County 325 West and County Road 450 North and fire a gunshot. The trooper ran towards the vehicle, which sped away.

State police and other nearby agencies responded to the area, and after an extensive search, they found Michael Lee McConnell still in the vehicle. After an interview, he was taken to the Putnam County Jail without incident and charged with criminal recklessness with a firearm.
