VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Residents will have a chance to provide feedback on a proposed INDOT project to remove the North Clinton Road bridge over US 41 and reconfigure the resulting intersection during a public hearing.

INDOT announced the hearing Tuesday, it’s scheduled to take place at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 20 at the Northside Bingo hall at 7339 North Clinton Street. The preliminary design plans and environmental documentation call for the removal of the bridge, and construction of a new at-grade intersection where North Clinton and US 41 meet.

According to officials, the removal of fill sections and re-grading of embankments would improve the sight distance from the Evans Avenue intersection for vehicles approaching Evans along US 41 N.

While construction is underway the traffic plan proposed would utilize lane shifts and sequencing, with nighttime closures anticipated along US 41 N. Access to Clinton Street would still be accessible through the use of Budd Road. Once completed, Budd Road would be permanently closed at the intersection with US 41, turning the small road into a dead end.

Access to Quinn and Evans avenues would be maintained throughout the project duration.

INDOT says the public hearing is an opportunity for the community to meet with INDOT officials and give their input on the plans.
