VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The Indiana Department of Transportation provided an update about a road construction project regarding the future of a local bridge.
The North Clinton Street bridge over U.S. 41 Northbound is just north of Terre Haute in Vigo County. In July 2022, INDOT held a meeting asking for the public’s thoughts on removing the aging bridge. On Tuesday, INDOT gave an update on the project, which was initially announced last year.
Blake Dollier, the public relations director for INDOT’s Crawfordsville district said that community feedback and what engineers say will help them make the best possible decision.
“As far as the timeline of the decision, that’s something that is kind of dependent on a lot of things. It depends on just how long it takes for everybody to go through that feedback. We’re also doing an engineering study on this bridge and that’s something that could take a little bit of time. It’s not necessarily something that happens overnight, but it’s something that we’re working on as quickly and as efficiently as we can, as we work to just find the best decision of what to do with this bridge here,” Dollier said.
Dollier also noted that INDOT really appreciates the community sharing their opinions on projects and proposals like this.
