Indiana State Police investigate murder in Martin County

MARTIN CO., Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Indiana State Police are conducting a murder investigation following the shooting death of a Martin County man.

At around 2:20 Monday afternoon, the Martin County Sheriff’s Office responded to a shots fired call at the 800 block of Main Street. That’s where officers found Jeremi Jones, 39, with a gunshot wound. Jones, who is from Shoals, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Indiana State Police were asked to lead the investigation. While on scene, troopers and local law enforcement found enough probable cause to arrest Kiesten Jones, 23,  of Loogootee, Indiana.

Kiesten is at the Martin County Jail on the charge of murder.

According to authorities, there is no threat to the public.
