TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Senator Jon Ford traded in his senator seat for a principal seat Wednesday when he became “Principal for a Day” at Riley Elementary School in Vigo County.

Senator Ford had the opportunity to tour the building and observe teachers and staff members help lead the next generation.

Ford also listened to presentations from students who discussed interesting facts about Indiana.

Senator Ford said he learned some things about the Hoosier state.

“It was great to see them take this book and really digest the information and be able to put it into representation and what they learned,” Senator Ford said. “Helped me learn a few things.”

The “Principal for a Day” program is an annual event in the Vigo County school system but it was cancelled last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
