WABASH VALLEY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — An Illinois state senator who represents our local communities toured his district on Monday, Feb. 13 to discuss job creation economic development, and housing.

Representing Illinois’ 51st District, state senator Chapin Rose is promoting a package of bills with those topics as the focus.

One measure Rose discussed on Monday was designed to support existing Illinois businesses by giving them incentives like tax credits to create jobs in Illinois. While another measure discussed was aimed at addressing housing issues.

Rose explained it would allow local communities to remove blighted homes and also offset the costs of extending infrastructure to subdivisions. The goal would be to create more housing lots that are affordable for families.

“We need new housing in Paris, we need new housing in Marshall, Robinson, etc. I’ve heard this across the board from everyone from school district leaders to county board executives to mayors, managing and plant managers,” said Rose.

State senator Rose’s district stretches from the top of Vermilion county, Illinois to the bottom of Lawrence county.
