PARKE COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – The Covered Bridge Festival ended around 3 weeks ago and the Parke County Commissioners reviewed the new traffic plan in Bridgeton.
In September, we told you about a new traffic plan was put in place to help ensure the safety of everyone who attended the festival. Parke County Commissioners approved to have Bridgeton road pedestrian traffic only. It was an effort to avoid vehicles driving down the middle of the festival.
According to Parke County Commissioner Jim Meece the plan went very well and the pedestrians felt more secured while visiting vendors.
“I’ve had nothing but good reports about the traffic flow in Bridgeton and the fact that people felt safe walking from vendor to vendor without having to worry about traffic getting in the way. So, I think it was a good move. Change is always difficult, but we’ve heard nothing but good things about it,” Meece said.
Meece said they’ll discuss any possible changes for next year’s Covered Bridge Festival at a meeting at the end of 2023.
