TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Many people were at Saint Mary of the Woods College today, to help give back to their community.
By participating the annual “Hunger Bust Run” it’s done in effort to help battle food insecurity.
Saint Mary’s Village Parrish holds this event and every and donate all proceeds to the Providence food pantry.
Over 150 people registered for this year’s event to help the pantry that is sponsored by 11 local churches.
Over the last nine years the food pantry has raised over 50,000 thousand dollars.
“It brings the community together and they realize it’s a community action,” Sister Joseph Fillenwarth, director and president of the Providence food pantry said. “That we’re all in this together and we’re working together to take care of all neighbors and I just think all neighborhoods should be able to do this.”
The food pantry is open every Thursday morning from 8a.m. until 10:30a.m.
