Paris, Ill. (WTWO/WAWV) Horizon Health expands it women’s health services.
Three-dimensional (3D) mammography is now available and a new physical therapy service can treat conditions affecting the pelvic floor.
3D mammography detects up to 65 percent more invasive breast cancers compared to past technology. It also reduces patients needing to be called back for additional imaging.
If questionable tissue is found and a breast biopsy needs to be done, 3D mammography can help a surgeon guide the biopsy needle to a precise location to obtain a tissue sample. The tissue is then examined at a lab for cancer.
Pelvic floor physical therapy
Horizon Health’s rehab department provides treatment for pelvic floor conditions. Those conditions include urinary and bowel incontinence, constipation, pelvic organ prolapse (known as “dropped organs”), vulvar pain and more.
Specially trained physical therapists use a variety of techniques including manual therapy, bio-feedback and electrical stimulation to treat patients.
