TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – As we continue to beat the heat amidst high temperatures, HVAC systems play a vital role in keeping homes and buildings cool.
If one of these systems were to break or give out, it could mean big trouble for those impacted.
Roehm Refrigeration Heating & Cooling Vice President Beth D’Amico said that they’re getting upwards of 50 calls a day regarding HVAC repairs.
“Extreme heat or extreme temperatures, we’re going to get more calls,” D’Amico said. “Even if it’s 1 a.m., we can get a call of no A/C and have to go out and take care of it.”
D’Amico explained that there are many things you can do at home to prevent your HVAC system from failing.
One simple measure that can be taken is to simply check and change your air filter. She said that this is first question that is asked of a caller. Another step is check your outdoors and to clear any debris off of it.
With rising inflation, the cost of repairs are rising. D’Amico said that these measures at home could save you hundreds.
“We always make sure that we ask that on the phone first because if we can save the consumer some money before us coming out, that’s extremely important to us,” D’Amico said.
