VINCENNES, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – The Vincennes Police Department posted on their Facebook page Thursday evening for residents to be aware of anyone knocking on their door and saying they are workers.
On Wednesday, the police department received a report of a possible burglary. Officers responded and spoke with the victim, who said that a man came to the door and stated he worked for a tree trimming service.
The victim brought the man to the backyard after he asked about cutting down a specific tree. The victim told police that the two of them were in the backyard for about fifteen minutes. After talking with the man, the victim went back inside and noticed some jewelry that had been inside the house was missing, and a purse had been moved.
Police believe during the time the victim was outside with the man, another person got out of the truck, and went inside the house to steal some of the victim’s personal belongings.
The truck pictured is believed to be the suspect vehicle. Anyone with information is asked to call the Vincennes Police Department at 812-882-1630 and ask to speak with the Detective Division.
