TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A local organization that serves hundreds of people with disabilities is looking to expand so it can help even more friends — and the community has the opportunity to support the effort.
Happiness Bag provides care and programming for people who have disabilities. The organization has launched a fundraising campaign called Build Us Up. The goal is to raise $3.5 million dollars to renovate and expand.
“There are so many dedicated individuals who move us closer to expansion that I’ve met throughout my 37 years at Happiness Bag,” Jodi Moan, Executive Director of Happiness Bag said. “Knowing what opportunities and possibilities this expansion will provide to our friends is exciting. The additional space will enable us to expand our program and provide for more friends in our community,” Moan added.
Happiness Bag said it currently serves 250 friends and additional space would help them serve even more people. The expansion plan includes a lunch room, recreational room, sensory lounge, computer lab, new restrooms, classrooms, and more.
