TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Fundraising efforts continue for a local organization that helps people with disabilities and their families.
Jodi Moan, Executive Director of Happiness Bag, joined us live in studio on WTWO 6:30 Today on Wednesday to talk about the efforts and what the money will go toward.
“We are in the process of expanding and adding another 11,000 square feet. When we built the initial facility, we weren’t doing a day program and services were a lot different 25 years ago. So we need more individualized areas in order to work on those skills,” Moan said.
Moan explained that it includes an accessible laundry room, kitchen, sensory room, computer lab and more.
The fundraising campaign is called “Build Up” and the goal is to raise $3.5 million dollars.
Moan said they have been able to raise about 2/3 of the goal, but are still short about $450,000 before they can put shovels in the ground.
“One of the other big areas for our friends is they love music. This expansion would provide an area for them to be able to participate in and to also be where our employees have to document or have to hold meetings,” Moan said.
