TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – As students prepare to go back to school organizations are working to make sure they are prepared.

Hundreds of people gathered at Herz-Rose park for the Hamilton Center for their “We Live’ event. Children of all ages were welcomed as the center provided backpacks, school supplies, food and haircuts.

Those at Hamilton Center say they wanted to let the community know they’re always there to help.

“There’s going to be times in your life we’re going to struggle,” Melvin Burks, CEO of the Hamilton Center said. “We want you know that there’s people like us who’d be willing to give you some advice.”

Other agencies and sponsors also filled the park helping families get prepared for the new year.
