TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – The Hamilton Center helped residents show their support for diversity, inclusion and equity.
Hundreds of cars lined up at Fairbanks Park to take part in the “Diversity Walk-on-Wheels” event.
The center says because of COVID, this is the second year they’ve had this parade to ensure better social distancing.
Organizers say it was created to bring different groups of people together to build relationships and break down barriers.
“This isn’t just an event about today. This is an event about continuing this work throughout the year,” Hamilton Center chief of community engagement Lynn Hughes said. “We want to reach everyone with the opportunities to learn more about the different people in our communities.”
The parade ended at Veterans Memorial Park with a brief presentation from the Hamilton Center, Terre Haute Mayor Duke Bennett and Indiana Senator Jon Ford.
