VINCENNES, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Good Samaritan is offering a Men’s Wellness Fair from 7 to 10 a.m. and again from 4 to 6 p.m. EST on Tuesday, Nov. 9 at Highland Woods Community Center, located at 1377 S. Hart Street in Vincennes, Ind. Pre-registration will be required for the event, as space is will be limited to accommodate social distancing.
To keep community members safe during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s event will be very similar to last year’s.
“Many events and health fairs have been cancelled this year due to COVID,” Tiffany Conover, Director of Marketing at Good Samaritan, said. “We have seen the positive outcomes of men in our community attending these yearly screenings and did not want to take this opportunity away from them.”
This event, which was previously called the Men’s Health Tune Up, will be simplified to only include health screenings and a few other hospital booths this year. The free screenings offered will include blood pressure, colorectal take-home kits, pulse oximetry and a lab draw that will test blood sugar, lipid profile, glomerular filtration rate and PSA for prostate cancer.
Attendees must pre-register for the Men’s Wellness Fair online or by calling (812) 885-3336. All attendees will be socially distanced and must wear a mask.
Fasting for 10-12 hours before the lab draw is recommended, but not required.
“We encourage men to register for and take advantage of the free screenings and health information,” Rob McLin, Good Samaritan President and CEO, said. “We have taken precautions to ensure a safe wellness fair for all attendees.”
