VINCENNES, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Good Samaritan Hospital is inviting the community to take part in a special prayer event on Monday for its healthcare workers on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic. A Park and Pray event will be held from 6:30-7 p.m. on Monday, December 7 at Good Samaritan.
“We hosted a parking-lot prayer back in April, at a time when we were not yet seeing the full impact of COVID-19 in our community,” said Tiffany Conover, Director of Marketing at Good Samaritan. “Currently, we are seeing more COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations than ever and it is taking an emotional toll on our staff. We are inviting the community to come together in prayer to show support for our frontline staff, and also to pray for our patients and their families. We are at a point where our staff and patients really need some uplifting, and we hope this parking-lot prayer will do just that.”
At the conclusion of the program participants in the parking lot will be asked to spend 45 seconds honking their car horns and flashing their headlights.
Good Samaritan asks that Park and Pray participants park in the Memorial Parking lot in front of the main entrance of the hospital on Prairie St. or in the back of the Grouseland Parking lot on 6th St. Signage will guide participants where to park in these areas. Attendees are asked to turn on their vehicle’s emergency flashers upon arrival in the parking lot and leave them on throughout the program.
“To ensure this is a safe event, we ask that all participants remain in their vehicles,” stated Conover. “If someone does choose to exit their vehicle or walk to the event, we ask that they wear a mask and adhere to physical distancing guidelines of six feet from others.”
