TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — People all across the world are doing their part to help non-profits today.

That’s because it’s Giving Tuesday.

The special day is marked each year on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving. Danielle Isbell is the co-executive director of the United Way of the Wabash Valley. She says Giving Tuesday is about coming together to spread hope throughout the community.

“Any monetary donation is going to help the work that each individual non-profit does,” Isbell said. “But here in Vigo County, and all the surrounding counties, we’re really focusing on collaboration and really working together to make a bigger movement.”

UWWV partners with many non-profit organizations to assist people in a six-county service area. Isbell says folks can support non-profits by making a donation, but she adds it’s not just about monetary gifts.

“It can also just be the giving of your time, talents, your treasure,” Isbell said. “Non-profits really rely on volunteers to really make an impact in the community. So it’s not just about giving of money, it’s also about giving your time and really also just spreading messages of hope and encouragement all across the community.”
