FARMERSBURG, Ind. (WAWV/WTWO) – “We’re really interested in making sure they can earn these badges so they can look back and say hey we did this for this community or we did this with Jesse Walker,” Troop Leader Jessica Achenbach said.

Jesse Walker got a special visit Tuesday from a local girl scout troop.

Girl scout troop 2263 joined Jesse to learn about the weather and storms. He showed them how detect weather on the Doppler Radar and how the weather wall works. The troop will also be donating a thousand dollars to the tornado relief fund for Sullivan County.

Co-Troop Leader Stephanie Dicus said it’s important to teach children how to help those in need.

“To care about what happens to people and to be a good human. So, part of that is seeing the bad things that can happen and then how to give back, and how to care about that,” Dicus said.

The troop received the “good neighbor” and “weather station tour” patch after Tuesday’s visit.
