Gaslight Art Colony to host two-week long fiber arts showcase event

MARSHALL, Ill. (WTWO/WAWV) — The Gaslight Art Colony in Marshall, Ill., is scheduled to host a Fiber Art Show Aug. 21 through Sept. 11 that will feature the work of local artists.

This very special juried show opens with a reception on Saturday, from 5-8 pm. CST.

The show, according to a news release, contains original work in both concept and design. The event also has a juried show portion that will present awards for Best of Show, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. Awards will be presented at the reception at 6:00 pm. CST on Aug. 21.

The juror judging the art will be Indiana artist Emily Bennett. Bennett received her MFA from the Herron School of Art & Design and has had her work featured in Fiber Art Now Magazine. She now works as a professor at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College.
