TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Guilty.

It took a Vigo County jury a little over three hours of deliberation to return guilty verdicts in both counts facing Justin C. Gasaway.

The jury found Gasaway guilty of both murder and battery resulting in moderate bodily injury following a trial that lasted almost four days in Vigo County Superior Court V.

Gasaway’s charges stem from the events of January 1, 2020, when police responded to a residence in the 200 block of 9th Street, where they found 61-year-old Bryan J. Owen, who had been stabbed. Owen was later pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.

According to Vigo County Chief Prosecutor Rob Roberts, following the guilty verdict, Gasaway also admitted to being a habitual offender.

Gasaway next will appear in court for sentencing at 9 a.m. on December 20.
