VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WAWV/WTWO) — Vigo County’s Fowler Park is making repairs on Irishman’s bridge this summer causing the popular beach to close for the rest of the season.

Superintendent Adam Grossman said the lake’s water has to be lowered 6 to 7 feet to be able to make the repairs.

We don’t take that decision lightly, we know people love to swim in our park. We love seeing them out her enjoying that facility. We made a lot of improvements a couple of years ago to our beach area. We take pride in that.”

Terre Haute has a community pool located at Deming Park that is a good alternative for those looking to swim this summer.

Terre Haute City Parks and Recreation Assistant Director Jennifer Johnson said the limited swimming locations in town make the park popular among community members. She said with the closure of Fowler, she expects even more people at Deming Park’s pool this summer season.
