TERRE HAUTE, In. (WTWO/ WAWV) — According to Vigo County Sheriff, John Plasse, a recent crime spree in Terre Haute has connections to robberies that happened across state lines.
Between 5 and 6 a.m. November 22, armed suspects committed robberies in four establishments in Terre Haute. These robberies happened at the Holiday Inn Express, Home2 Suites, the Hampton on Third Street, and the Maui Stop and Shop on Springhill Drive and Seventh Street.
“We’re working on leads, but if anybody has any ideas please contact us,” Plasse said. “Even if it’s something you may not think is something, please let us know.”
Plasse said the two suspects are also suspected to have committed robberies earlier that morning in Clark and Edgar counties in Illinois.
According to a statement from the Marshall Police Department, two suspects robbed the Relax Inn on Trefz Drive. One suspect showed they were armed and demanded money from the attendant. This happened at 2:15 a.m. November 22.
“The suspects then fled the scene in a dark colored four door passenger car,” the statement said. “No injuries were reported. An undetermined amount of cash was taken.”
“They were quite active and successful in the four attempts and the attempt in Illinois,” Plasse said.
The suspects could be charged with armed robbery, but other charges could be pending.
“It’s dangerous when you have a gun committing armed robberies,” Plasse said. “The people that had to experience that were in fear for their lives and understandably so.”
Anyone with information should contact the Terre Haute Police Department or the Vigo County Sheriff’s office.
