TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Demolition is underway on a building that had stood for more than a century in Terre Haute.

Demolition crews are tearing down the building, located in the 1500 block of Beech Street, that formerly housed Columbian Home Products.

Longtime Terre Haute resident Dick Becker said he owns some of the company’s enamel-ware. He’s interested to see what will happen with the space.

“I have no idea what’s going to replace this building here,” Becker said. “But it is, shall we say, a large area of opportunity for someone or some organization, or some business to start here and start from the ground up again.”

The company, which made enamel-ware, closed up shop last year after stopping production. The closure ended a run of business that began in 1902.
