TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — It’s a campaign so nice they named it twice: “Bee My Honey” and “Honey for Your Honey” are slogans for reTHink, Inc.’s new Valentine’s Day campaign, offering healthy, zero-waste snacks for friends and loved ones.
The honey reTHink offers is locally sourced and not heated or pasteurized. People can return the glass jars and farmers will reuse them. Shikha Bhattacharyya, executive director of reTHink, said it’s a way to honor honey bees.
The group also has gum and gum pops for children to share with classmates, made of natural ingredients including all natural compostable gum, a unique approach to a healthier Valentine’s Day, as well as all-natural chocolate bars.
“If you love someone, you want them to be healthy. If you want them to be healthy, you want to give them healthy treats,” Bhattacharyya said. “We have at least 50 kinds of different chocolates, organic chocolate made with maple syrup, made with honey.”
The reTHink store at 608 N. 13th St. is open Monday-Friday from 11 .m.-6 p.m. The also have an online store that also includes locally produced handmade gifts, dietary supplements, compostable items and other environmentally friendly items.
“It is very important for us to, one, be mindful of the amount of waste we create,” Bhattacharyya said. “Our landfills are overflowing and not only that, there is a lot of pollutioin that goes to water, to our food and to the air and then we inhale it, ingest it and then we get sick.”
She added, “We have to do things that are not only better for us and also better for the environment, because we live in harmony with nature. If we are healthy, the environment will be healthy. If nature is healthy, we will be healthy.”
