EFFINGHAM, Ill. (WTWO/WAWV) — An Effingham-based medical helicopter is now equipped to administer blood and plasma during transport.

Arch Air Methods said it now carries the blood to improve patient care capabilities.

“Research has shown that early blood administration leads to an increase in both short-term and long-term survivability,” according to a Facebook post. “For this reason, blood has been added to the multitude of life-saving equipment and supplies present on our Bell 407 helicopter.”
