SULLIVAN COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A 6th grader at Duggar Community Schools is hula hooping to raise money to those effected by Hurricane Ian.
Abby Shepler and the Sullivan Salvation Army partnered to organize a hurricane relief fundraiser. Shepler has several donors already and has raised over $300.
In 2017, Shepler hula hooped for an hour and 15 minutes for other hurricane fundraisers.
Shepler said she hopes to raise as much money as she can.
“One of the reasons is that we have family and friends down there,” Shepler said. “And also I really want to help people that may have been hurt or have lost some things that have been down there. If you can help anybody, just if you get the chance to, do it.”
On Wednesday evening, Shelper hula hooped for an hour and 40 minutes. Donations to the fundraiser are still being accepted, to do so, just contact the Sullivan Salvation Army.
