PARKE COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Sparks were flying as an impaired driver reportedly drug a street sign with his truck along U.S. 41.
That’s according to the Parke County Sheriff’s Office, who said the incident occurred at 8:48 p.m. on Thursday on U.S. 41 just south of Rockville. Dispatch initially received a call of a possibly impaired driver having wrecked into a guardrail and continuing to drive northbound on U.S. 41.
Sheriff Jason Frazier said as a deputy caught up with the vehicle they observed a “large amount of sparks flying from underneath and a road sign on the hood of the vehicle.”
The driver, 78-year-old George Cloyd of Brownsburg was placed under arrest for operating a vehicle while intoxicated, leaving the scene of a property damage accident, and intimidation.
