TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Two Terre Haute men have been arrested with one charged with armed robbery and kidnapping among other charges after police say they tried to rob a person trying to purchase marijuana from them.
According to Indiana State Police, the incident occurred on Wednesday, Feb. 8, at approximately 8:30 p.m. in the 200 block of Farrington Street in Terre Haute. An unnamed 19-year-old woman was reportedly attempting to purchase marijuana from the two men. As she entered their vehicle she kept the passenger door open, however, one of the men then shut the door on her and displayed a handgun informing her the price of the drugs had increased.
When the woman refused to pay, police said the driver began to drive away with her still in the vehicle. The woman was able to escape the moving vehicle before the men drove away from the area.
Thursday, Feb. 9, investigating police searched a residence reportedly belonging to the men which turned up drugs, firearms, and evidence used in the armed robbery.
The two men, Alzeez Hamzat, 21, and Adedejj Hamzat, 18, both of Terre Haute were arrested during the search without incident.
